Sugar Cookies

   � cup butter 1 cup sugar 1 egg � teaspoon vanilla 2 teaspoon grated lemon rind (or 1 teaspoon lemon extract) � teaspoon salt 1� teaspoon baking powder 2 cups our � cup milk Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.

   Add egg, vanilla, and lemon rind (you may use 1 tsp. lemon extract in place of the lemon rind).

   Sift dr y ingredients.

   Stir into creamed mixture together with milk.

   Divide dough in half.

   Chill 1 hour.

   Roll out �-inch thick.

   Use cookie cutters or a glass to cut cookies into desired shape.

   Bake in a 350� oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

    Frost when cool.

    Makes 2 dozen cookies.
